About Library

PBS Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) is rapidly building up to be one of the leading professional research libraries. It started its service in the year 1998. Resources an essential requisite in the intellectual pursuits for our students, faculty, and the MES community. PBS-KRC, with state-of-the-art knowledge resources predominantly related to management and allied subjects. The entire KRC collection of books, print journals/magazines along with its wide range of e-collection including e-journals, e-books, online databases, CD-ROM collection, etc., are accessible through the Institute’s network and Wi-Fi. The Library has a vast number of Books 21636 and subscribed 03 online databases of management subjects i.e. EBSCO, J-Gate, and ProQuest – eBook databases and Newspapers spanning all aspects.

The broad objectives of PBS KRC are:

  • To build a state-of-the-art knowledge resources centre for management and allied subjects;
  • To acquire need-based resources to meet information requirements of the academic community of the Institute; and,
  • To provide proactive and innovative reference services to the user community.

Due to the growing needs and preference of Library users, KRC focuses more on subscription to online resources than printed documents. In the last few years, e-resources of the PBS-KRC increased considerably in terms of number and subject coverage.

Dr. Baban K. More
Librarian
Education: Ph.D. (TISS), UGC-SET, M.Phil., PGDLIM, MLISc.
Research Papers and Publications: He has published 12 research papers in the various National, International Journals and conference seminars, Book chapters and 3 Research papers are published in the UGC CARE Listed International Journals.
Work Experience: He is more than 16 years of work experience in the academic library and information systems.

Location

Library being the heart of an academic system is located at a central place of the college. PBS Library is located on 1st floor and its carpet area is 360.37 Sq.meter with a seating capacity of 125 at a time.

Working Hours

The Knowledge Resources Centre is kept open almost throughout the year including public holidays and Sundays.

Monday to Saturday8.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Sunday10.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

Circulation Policy

Three (3) Books are issued for a period of 1 week to Students and Five (5) Books 15 days for staff normally; again it is reissued if the book(s) is / are not reserved. A fine of Rs.5 per day is collected from students for overdue books. Magazines are issued to students for the period of 2 days. Multimedia facility is made available for accessing CD-ROMs.

Collection Development Policy (CDP)

PBS Library has a collection development policy in which we continuously add course related and other relevant books through Books exhibitions and Books on approval. Similarly new periodicals are subscribed on the request from Staff members.

Institutional Membership

PBS Library is having an institutional membership of The Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai and connected to all MES Institute Libraries. Students and Staff members can use the facility of Inter-loan Library Resources.

Future Plans

PBS-KRC: Library has the following mentioned plans for the future.

  • Creating Model Library System – This requires visiting other popular Library systems like Universities, Technical and Colleges. This will help in developing present system both physically as well as intellectually. During the vacations Librarian and the other Library staff may be permitted to visit the other library systems in the city.
  • Students Centric Programs – With the help of potential students the activities like “Book Talk”, “Best Library User” and “Best suggestion”.
  • PBS – KRC: Using Digital Library – Institute repository is the need of the hour, our entire institute out puts and other important R & D works and students / staff publications will be made available for the future use through DSpace, Digital Library and the system will be updated regularly. Dissertations / Theses, TOC table of contents can be scanned and put into the system for the easy access of one and all.
  • Clipping Service – All primary sources like News papers, Journals, Magazines and other resources will be used to create the clippings in broad subjects. Monthly digital archival will be created for preservation.
