PULSE Exam 2026: Eligibility, Syllabus, Pattern & Scholarship Details

PULSE stands for the Pillai University Level Scholastic Exam. It is designed as a stream-specific entrance exam that evaluates aptitude, subject readiness, logical reasoning, and in some cases creative ability.

PULSE covers admission to selected UG and PG programs across Engineering, Design, Management, and Computer Applications, including B.Tech, B.Des, BBA, BCA, Integrated BBA-MBA, and MBA.

We conduct PULSE because one standard admission test does not suit every stream equally well. A student applying for B.Tech needs a different evaluation approach than a student applying for Design or MBA, so we have structured the exam to reflect those academic differences.

PULSE 2026 includes multiple exam dates: 7 March, 14 March, 21 March, 28 March, 10 May, and 24 May. This gives students more than one opportunity to plan their attempt carefully.

The exam duration is 120 minutes, and the commonly listed time slot is 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There is no negative marking, which means students can approach the paper with more confidence and less fear of losing marks for wrong attempts.

Our on-campus exam venue is the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus in New Panvel. Students also have registration-related options connected to locations such as Mumbai, Cochin, Varanasi, Dubai, and Singapore, which helps widen access for applicants from different places.

For undergraduate programs, we welcome students who have passed Class 12 as well as students who are currently appearing for Class 12. This allows students to begin their admission journey early instead of waiting until every result and decision is finalized.

This eligibility structure works well for 12th-pass students who want clarity about their next step. It also supports students who are actively comparing different higher education options but want an admission route tied directly to the university and program they are considering.

For postgraduate programs, we allow applications from students who have completed a bachelor's degree and also from students who are currently appearing for their bachelor's degree.

This makes PULSE relevant for undergraduates planning ahead for programs such as MBA. Instead of postponing decisions until after graduation, students can explore their next academic move in a more timely and confident way.

Students who are currently appearing for Class 12 (for UG programs) or currently appearing for their bachelor's degree (for PG programs) are eligible to apply. This allows students to begin their admission journey early and plan ahead.

For B.Tech programs, PULSE carries 120 marks and follows an objective format over 2 hours. This pattern is suitable for students who are comfortable with quantitative thinking, core science subjects, and aptitude-based problem solving.

For Design-related programs, the exam includes 30 minutes of MCQ and 1.5 hours of drawing. This allows us to assess both general ability and creative ability rather than judging design applicants on only one type of skill.

For BBA, Aviation Hospitality Management, Integrated BBA-MBA, BCA, and BCA (AI), the paper carries 100 marks and runs for 2 hours in an objective format. This structure suits students who are stronger in reasoning, communication, general awareness, and computer-related basics.

For MBA, the exam carries 200 marks and includes objective questions along with a writing component within 2 hours. This helps us assess analytical ability together with written communication and structured thinking.

The Engineering syllabus includes General Aptitude, Language Proficiency, Physics, and Mathematics. For most science students, these areas are already familiar, which means preparation can focus on strengthening concepts, improving speed, and managing time well.

The Design syllabus is divided into General Ability and Creative Ability. General Ability includes General Awareness, Current Affairs, Numerical, Logical and Analytical, and English, while Creative Ability includes Creative Writing or Storyboard, Perspective Drawing, and Product Ideation.

This approach gives design applicants a fair chance to show both awareness and imagination. It also reflects the fact that design education requires observation, concept development, communication, and creativity together.

For BBA and BCA streams, the syllabus includes English Language, Logical Reasoning and Quant Aptitude, General Knowledge and Awareness, and Computer Fundamentals.

This mix is especially helpful for students from varied academic backgrounds. It lets us evaluate readiness for business, management, technology, and application-oriented learning without relying on only one narrow academic area.

For MBA aspirants, the syllabus includes Numerical Ability, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation, General Awareness, Functional Aptitude, and English Language. The English section includes a subjective component, which adds an important communication dimension to the exam.

In practical terms, this means MBA applicants should prepare for both speed-based aptitude work and clear written expression. Students who balance these two aspects are usually better prepared for the full structure of the paper.

PULSE is linked with scholarship opportunities for eligible students. Strong performance can improve scholarship possibilities, although the exact scholarship percentage may vary by program or admission cycle.

A good PULSE performance can support both admission confidence and scholarship consideration at the same time. This is one of the most practical reasons to take the exam seriously.

Engineering applicants should spend more time on Physics, Mathematics, aptitude, and language basics. Design applicants should prepare for both objective questions and creative tasks such as drawing, storyboarding, and ideation. BBA and BCA applicants should strengthen English, reasoning, awareness, and computer fundamentals. MBA applicants should prepare for aptitude, data interpretation, awareness, and writing together.

Students often perform better when they focus on short, regular preparation sessions rather than long, irregular study bursts. Consistency matters more than intensity when the syllabus is broad but manageable.

One common mistake is preparing from the wrong syllabus or assuming the same paper applies to every program. Another is ignoring timed practice, which can reduce performance even when conceptual preparation is strong.

Design students should not neglect creative practice, because their exam includes a drawing-based component. MBA students should not ignore writing practice, because their paper includes a written element in addition to objective questions.

Exam-day discipline also matters. Students should carry a government photo ID, a ball-point pen, and drawing materials if applicable. Mobile phones, smart watches, and calculators are not allowed. An admit card is not required, and valid government ID or school or college ID can be used for appearance.
